I'm linking up with Lindsey over at The Teacher Wife to talk about my 5 top picture books. Ohhh, this is sooooo hard. I will just have to stick to 5 that I always start the year with.
1) What If Everybody Did That? by Ellen Javernick - LOOOOOOVVVVEEE this book. My kids ask for it all year long. It really gets kids to understand that each person's actions affect others around them.
2) My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss - I love this book because it reminds me of my children. We have a verrrrry worn copy of this book in their bookshelf. It talks about feelings and lets kids know that their feelings, whatever they are, are ok.
3) First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg - We all know it. We all love it. A funny story of a teacher's first day of school.
4) Click, Clack, Moo by Doreen Cronin - My students always love this book. It talks about farm animals who demand "creature comforts" from their farmer. It's just fun and the kids like saying the predictable parts.
2) My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss - I love this book because it reminds me of my children. We have a verrrrry worn copy of this book in their bookshelf. It talks about feelings and lets kids know that their feelings, whatever they are, are ok.
5) Dog Breath by Dave Pilkey. Super cute story about a dog named Halitosis.
That was really hard, because there are so many wonderful picture books out there. Hopefully, there is something on my list that is new for each of you.

Ok, I know I said 5, but I love this next book and my list would not be complete without it. This book is deep and talks about some heavy ideas, but it is sooo good. My 2nd graders have always connected to this story. It is great for connecting, inferring, and teaching beginning-middle-end.
