Compound Word Freebie, Part II

Ho, ho, ho!  Happy Holidays!

Wait a minute.  Wait a minute.....Ok, can I be honest? This is absolutely my favorite time of year.  But, I am not really feeling the holidays, yet.  Especially since our district changed our work  calendar so that we now work until the 21st.  Hmmm.  Let's see, somehow I am magically supposed to do aaaaaalllllll the Christmas shopping for my family, decorate my home, prepare for holiday visitors, plan my Christmas baking and cooking menus, while still delivering 7-10 perfectly orchestrated lessons a day.  No wonder I am prematurely gray.

Ok, push on...chin up.  Happy holidays!  Merry Christmas!  I have a new little freebie to share with you.  I am determined that my students be compound word experts this year.  So, I have made a Christmas Compound Word freebie.

My students have really enjoyed using this little flip book.  It is a fun and interactive way to have students practice working with compound words. This freebie focuses on getting students to think about the meaning of the individual words within a compound word, and how it contributes to the overall meaning.  It also is aligned to ELA Common Core Standards for 2nd grade.

Fighting the "Scrooge" within,

  1. If it helps, we go until the 21st, too. I like your freebie, but we don't get to compound words until after break! Hope today gives you some extra time for some of the things you want to get done. Sara

    1. Thanks Sara, I know I am not alone. I hope we all find an extra couple of hours between now and the 25th.

      Thanks for stopping by.
